Rouleau Storm Pipe Replacement
Residential / Plumbing
Project description:
The existing storm piping required replacement due to heavy corrosion. The existing system utilized three storm pumps located on the third level of parking to discharge to the main storm outlet located on the first level of the parkade. Due to the proximity to the Elbow River the building requires consistent discharge of collected groundwater.
Scope of work:
Due to the volume of incoming water collected in the storm pit; a temporary bypass was set in place to control and discharge the storm water as the existing 150mm steel pipe was replaced. The new piping consisted of 6 inch stainless steel pipe complete with isolation valve and check valves in the storm pit. The above ground piping was then transitioned to 200mm CPVC piping and connected with the use of Victaulic fittings. The three existing 15HP pumps were all removed to allow for the replacement of the guide rails. Two existing pumps were re-installed and the third pump replaced with a new unit. Prior to insulating the exposed above ground piping; the system was commissioned and floats set to allow for longer duration duty cycles as the per the design engineers specifications.
